For many of us our plantar regions are touched mostly by rubber leather and a slew of manmade matierials. What ever happened to the shoemaker? Is he or she 7-15 in a sweatshop making fake dunks? NOT THIS TIME. Armando H. Torres is an Artist/Curator/Shoemaker and has been running Underground Gallery in Silver Lake for almost 3 years. He studied at F.I.T. In New York and worked at the Donna Karan Fashion Library and interned with Schwartz & Benjamin, American Licensee for Anne Klein and Yves Saint-Laurent . He then apprenticed for 7 years with Luis Jovel, a fourth generation shoemaker from El Salvador. He specializes in bespoke footwear as well as high-end footwear restoration/alterations. Chaching!
